4B Meats + The Borden Family

4B Meats was an idea that marinated for years in Dustin Borden’s mind. Formally founded in the Spring of 2018, this was just about the time the third calf crop was hitting the ground. The idea of bringing our high quality, healthy, and all-natural culinary special to every kind of people was the seed that grew from the support of family and friends and quite a bit of faith.

In a very short time, 4B Meats has served up F1 Wagyu steaks, burgers, and other cuts both at home and to hundreds of people in our community. As a customer, you can count on customer service with a personal touch. And if you swing by at dinner time, you’ll be asked to pull up a chair to join the family, because 4B Meats’ foundation is family.

Dustin and Brittany Borden, along with their two sons, Eastin and Briggs, run 4B Meats as a downstream business which complements their small Angus cow herd using Wagyu bulls to produce F1 Wagyu, similar to Kobe beef found in Japan. From the every day checking of the cattle, feed, and water, to weaning and working calves, as well as unloading and breaking down the boxes of beef, the Bordens do it all together as a family. They are often joined by Brittany’s parents, Joe and Nancy Morris, and receive various kinds of administrative and marketing assistance from sister, Brandy and her two children, as well as an aunt, Sherry. Family is more than a word. It’s the catalyst that makes success possible and meaningful.

Located 20 miles between Sunray and Gruver, 4B Meats is headquartered at Morris Stock Farm, one of the most successful and highly sought after feedyards in the industry specializing in feeding all natural diets to F1 Wagyu cattle. Increasingly so, Wagyu meat offered by 4B Meats has been bred, born, fed and harvested all within a 35 mile radius from the feedyard. As such, 4B Meats directly supports the communities of Dumas, Gruver, Spearman, Stratford, Borger, Sunray and Amarillo by buying all supplies and services locally as often as possible. In certain situations or seasons, we may lean on partners in the industry to fill special orders.

F1 Wagyu in the Texas Panhandle

4B Meats beef is F1 Wagyu, which means all beef is 50% full-blood, registered Black Wagyu crossed with a breed commonly found in America such as Angus. 4B Meats F1 Wagyu beef is not quite as rich as full-blood Wagyu, so our customers can enjoy the benefits of Wagyu at every meal.

4B Meats F1 Wagyu beef is dry-aged for at least 21 days which promotes connective tissue and muscle fiber breakdown resulting in a more tender cut of beef. The flavor is more robust due to the natural changes in enzymes and bacteria and oxidation of the fat.

All-natural, grain-fed, Black Wagyu beef composition is quite different than that of commercial American beef alone, producing meat that is healthier for consumers. Because Wagyu cattle free of growth hormones are fed for a longer period of time than commercial cattle, the fat is higher in monounsaturated fat leading to higher levels of oleic acid, omega-6, omega-3, and other essential fatty acids.

Furthermore, Wagyu meat is known for its tenderness. Wagyu cattle are fed much longer than commercial cattle, allowing the marbling to become dispersed between the muscle fibers, resulting in a product that melts in the mouth and has a distinct, enjoyable, flavor. What’s more, the unique blend of ingredients fed by Morris Stock Farm leads to a richer taste in comparison to other feeding programs.

I’ve made two purchases so far and I’m delighted with their products. The most recent purchase included NY Strip steaks and I’d have to rate them as one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten! I cooked them sous vide for 2.5 hours @ 136 degrees and then finished them up with 1 minute per side sear on a very hot grill. The previous purchase included rib plate that I smoked @ 275 until they were tender. Absolutely amazing!
